The first of several throttle control "pods" that will be used to run the trains.   These are all hand-made controls in pieces of brushed stainless steel.   They are basically just the control pot and reversing switches of a transistorized throttle circuit I built from Peter Thorne’s old circa 1970 book, "Practical Electronic Projects For Model Railroaders".   Pushing the lighted number button on any pod transfers control to that pod.   So simply by placing a few of these around the layout (my system supports up to 6), I can control the train from anywhere, with no need to carry anything and no need for a large centralized "control panel."
